ABOUT THE GALLERY
Southern Underground Gallery (SUG) was born from friendship, collaboration, and the belief that art can transform both individuals and communities.
Tiffiny, a self-taught abstract painter with a background in textiles, music, and culinary arts, first envisioned SUG as a way to show her son that you can create and reinvent yourself at any stage of life. Her vision was to open a space where art is not just displayed, but lived — a working studio, gallery, and classroom that celebrates expression in all its forms.
Kit Kite, a multidisciplinary conceptual artist known for self-portraiture, performance, and narrative work, joined Tiffiny in reimagining what SUG could be. Their meeting sparked a deep creative partnership, one grounded in shared values: authenticity, experimentation, and community care. What began as a single studio transformed into a collective vision — two women bringing their practices together to build a space that honors process over perfection, curiosity over judgment, and collaboration over isolation.
At its core, SUG exists to bring people together. Through workshops, exhibitions, wearable art, commissioned murals, and youth showcases, the gallery is both a platform and a playground. It’s where Tiffiny’s intuitive paintings meet Kit’s conceptual storytelling, and where visitors are invited to discover their own creative voice.
SUG is not just a gallery — it is a living experiment in kindness, collaboration, and the everyday courage of making something new.
